Biblical Studies I is a course offered at Springs Church via Springs Bible College in Winnipeg, NB. The session I attended ran through 2022. This document contains the scripture verses and study notes specified as notable in the study guide given for test 3. Notes are placed in the order indicated on the study guide.

Unit 6: Healing

  • Jesus never denied healing to those who asked him to be healed.
  • Jesus never denied healing for sin that had yet to be resolved.
  • Jesus healed every single person who came to him for healing.

Why Jesus healed as he did: (6.4)1

  1. W: Healing is God’s will.
  2. C: Healing is part of the character of God.
  3. N: Healing is part of the nature of God
  4. A: Healing is an attribute of God.
  5. SL: God’s Words are spirit and life.
  6. WM: Jesus was the Word manifested.

SL-WMN-WACSlut women are wack (but Jesus still healed them.)

  • Healing is an innate property of Christ.
  • Sickness is a bondage of Satan, not God.
  • Mark 7:24-29 – Jesus is racist but still gives healing. (6.7)1
  • John 3:16 – Jesus gave of His life for us because of his love for us.
  • Jesus not only can heal, but greatly desires to do so.

Jesus’ cousin John the Baptist, one of the few that had somewhat of a grasp of who Jesus truly was, was beheaded unceremoniously over the clash of adulterous guilt, shame, rage, revenge and an incestuous drunken lust. Jesus went away to grieve but when the multitudes came for healing, he set aside his own need and ministered to them. (6.11)1

  • Healing, like Salvation, is for all.
  • God is not sick. We are in his image.
  • God’s will is healing.

Scriptures

Matthew 9:35And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and disease among the people.

Isaiah 53:4-5Surely he hath borne our griefs (sickness), and carried our sorrows (pain): yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Colossians 2:8See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy [empty deception], according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of this world rather than according to Christ.

Romans 8:5-6For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh (your selfish needs, wants, desires), but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
